Efforts to be aware of the workings of the mind

Effort is mental.

We have a thought. That thought’s strength will increase if there is a feeling behind it.
That thought will repeat again because of this strength. That thought if involved with desires of any kind, will thread a story. Our imagination will come to help in that story. We have created a web of stories which will bother our inner peace.

We have created a “circle” of repeating thoughts, just like the “eternally repeating cycle;” our way out is to “think and feel the opposite.” This is to apply gyan.

The story is real in our mind, but it does not necessarily reflect what the Drama brings, known as, reality.
Those thoughts as they become stronger, will enhance a feeling. That feeling will create a story. That story will create our stage, because our consciousness is dictated by our awareness; our awareness will be tinted with heaviness which will not allow us to “fly.”

Note how a feeling in created in our mind: Someone did not smile to me today, or I felt attracted to someone or things are not happening according to my wishes; those are “little” perceived realities which come with a feeling. The rest is the work of our own imagination mixed with a biased perception of reality or perhaps our emotional stage due to karmic accounts… and desires. A desire always has to be there for sorrow to appear.
Whatever happens, let us not add a story. Let us not add an explanation or rationality. Let it be. Let us observe in a detached manner.

If we try “not thinking,” we will be free. However, it is not real to be without thoughts for a long time, therefore; Baba has taught us the “yukti” of “good wishes and pure feelings.” Let us start having pure wishes and good feelings for the self.

As we practice the avyakt stage, it becomes increasingly important to maintain our mind free from “stories.” Our mind needs to be clear so we can experience that stage, for our awareness will be concentrated.
We will be distracted every day with many things in our life. Our effort is to maintain this practice of clearing up our mind of stories and making our mind, our friend again.
